BE FACTUAL IN REPORTING ELECTION RATED MATTERS—INEC TELLS EBONYI JOURNALISTS
REPORTER: SUNDAY NWAMBAM
Journalists in Ebonyi State have been advised to be more factual and objective in the reportage of elections and post- election activities.
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ebonyi State, Mrs. Pauline ugochi-Onyeka, gave the advice during an interactive meeting with Media and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) at the INEC headquarters in Abakaliki.
She appealed to the Media and the CSOs in the state to step up support to the Commission in the enlightenment campaign for citizens to turn out en-mass and obtain their PVCs to enable them to vote for candidates of their choice during elections.
Mrs. ugochi-Onyeka, emphasized that only PVCs would empower validly registered voters to vote and be voted for during elections, hence need for people to secure their PVCs.
She also expressed the readiness of commission to conduct credible elections in Ebonyi State.
For his part, the INEC Administrative Secretary, Chief Clement Oha, enjoined journalists to shun fake news and continue to maintain the ethics of their profession.
