NYSC SANCTIONS 31 CORPS MEMBERS IN EBONYI

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ebonyi State says it has extended the service year of 31 Batch C, Stream Two Corp members deployed to the state for their mandatory service year.
The Coordinator of the Scheme in Ebonyi State, Mrs. Bamai Mercy announced this while addressing members of the Batch who passed out at the Headquarters of Abakaliki Local Government Area.
Mrs. Mercy said though 90% of the outgone corps members demonstrated patriotism in the course of their service year, those who absconded would have their year extended.
She explained that of the 825 that passed out, 10 corps members would repeat their service year while 21 would have some months of extension.
The NYSC State Coordinator charged the outgone corps members to be ambassadors of the scheme, noting that their service to the nation was a lifetime achievement that should make them to rekindle hope in the country.
One of the outgone Corps members, who received commendation for embarking on the production of shoes and bags during her service year, Miss Ifeoma Ewelukwe, said she acquired her skill during NYSC SAED Programme and urged other corps member not to wait for white collar jobs.
Another Corps member, Mr. Precious Agabi, called on NYSC to come up with a policy that would restrict corps members from being deployed outside their geopolitical zone because of insecurity.
The corps members commended the Federal Government for the sustenance of NYSC scheme, noting that it had helped in shaping their views against some stereotypes about some sections of the country.
