2023 CENSUS: GOV UMAHI CHAIRS STEERING COMMITTEE IN EBONYI

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State says the deployment of technology in the conduct of the 2023 National Census will help to generate reliable demographic data that will be acceptable to all Nigerians.
He stated this at a one day Stakeholders Summit on National Population and Housing Census organised in Abakaliki.
Chief Umahi described National Population and Housing census as vital for economic planning as well as federal allocation and called for effective participation of all stakeholders irrespective of cultural belief or political persuasions.
The Federal Commissioner in charge of Ebonyi State in the Commission, Chief Darlington Okereke, explained that the summit was to broaden support base for the successful conduct of the exercise.
He noted that the process would be fully digitized to ensure that the quality of data to be generated met international standard for planning and developmental purposes.
The Director National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Ebonyi State, Dr. Desmond Onwo and a representative of United Nations Fund for Population Activities, Mr. Benedict Isong, said their agencies were ready to sensitize and provide support funds for the Census.
Highpoint of Summit was the inauguration of the State Census Steering Committee with a charge by its Chairman, Governor Umahi, to galvanise support for the exercise.
