REPORTER: CHINAZO ILECHUKWU

The Federal Government says it will continue to assist states irrespective of political affiliations to develop infrastructure and other democratic dividends to the people.

President Mohammadu Buhari gave the assurance in Owerri while addressing some south east leaders shortly after inaugurating projects executed by the Imo State Government.

The President identified good roads and other infrastructure as key to economic development.

He commended the Imo State Governor, Chief Hope Uzodimma, for reconstructing federal roads in the state despite lean resources and expressed the optimism that the projects would turn around the fortunes of the state.

The Imo State Governor, Chief Uzodimma said he was moved to rehabilitate the Owerri Orlu and the Owerri Okigwe roads by the hardship experienced by motorists.

The Governor noted that the roads, which cut across more than ten local government areas in the state, would revive the economy and boost tourism in the area.

The President, who was accompanied by the Deputy President of the Senate, Chief Ovie-Omo Agege, and some members of the federal executive council, has already gone back to Abuja.
