The Anambra State Government has approved the immediate rehabilitation and reconstruction of four roads in Onitsha in line with its promise of providing durable access roads in the State.
The State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Paul Nwosu, who made this known in a statement, said the projects were part of resolutions reached during the Anambra State Executive Council meeting held at Government House, Awka.
According to the statement, the roads are: Akpaka road, Akpaka to Nsugbe road, Federal Housing Estate link road and the spur to 33.
The statement notes that the four roads which are 7.79 kilometers in length will be executed at the cost of #2.53 billion and would be completed within eight months.
The statement also indicated that upon completion, the roads would eliminate the nightmarish traffic jams experienced by motorists in that part of the city.
The statement also noted government’s disapproval of the increasing cases of youths’ invasion of lands with lawful titles belonging to people.
It further stated that communities where cables were removed or willfully damaged would be surcharged from their own share of the #25 million Community Choose-Your-Project initiative, which this administration would revive soon.
