ANAMBRA EXCO MOVES TO ADDRESS TRAFFIC CONGESTION, REPAIR BAD ROADS, CURB KIDNAPPING

The Anambra State Government says plans are on to set up an Afro-food Emporium and an Export Processing Zone in the area.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Paul Nwosu, at the end of State Executive Council meeting in Awka.

According to the statement, the government will invite a team of experts to properly design a viable framework for this purpose.

The statement also notes that the government is concerned with the high rate at which traffic regulations are violated in the state.

To check the impunity, it says the government has decided to equip Anambra State Traffic Manangement Agency (ATMA) to increase the efficiency of its personnel.

The statement stresses government’s commitment towards decongesting the Amansea Road of “container-bearing articulated vehicles,” which usually block the road and pose danger to other road users.

The statement expresses government’s determination to unlock the traffic gridlock in order to create the needed space for the Ministry of Works to carry out the much needed repairs on the Amansea road.

It says after the repairs, vehicles will be prohibited from parking in the area.

The statement also commends the people of the state for volunteering information about criminal activities, which helps security agents to achieve good results in the fight against heightened insecurity.

It reiterates government’s earlier position that any property or house used for kidnapping and other crimes will be demolished.

It further encourages residents of the state to keep reporting suspicious movements around them to government and security agencies.
