REACTIONS AS PRESIDENT BUHARI PLANS TO VISIT EBONYI

President Muhammadu Buhari is due to arrive in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State on a two day working visit on Thursday.

This is the second time the President will be visiting the state since he assumed office in 2015.

President Muhammadu Buhari who last came to Ebonyi State in 2017 will on arrival inaugurate some projects completed by the state government, including King David University of Medical Sciences Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area, Abakaliki Shopping Mall and a new Government House located at Centenary City.

Expressing his expectations from the visit, a resident of the state, Mr. Ogbonnaya Odabe, noted that it would give the people of the state a sense of belonging, considering that the state was recently connected to the centre politically..

He also described the visit as apt, maintaining that it would afford stakeholders the opportunity to present some burning issues, especially the call for Nigeria’s next President to emerge from the South East.

Another respondent, Professor Anthony Ani, said he would be delighted to welcome the President and appealed to him to look into agitations and security concerns in the zone.

The State Commissioner for information, Mr. Uchenna Orji, while briefing journalists, said the state government was prepared to give President Buhari a resounding welcome.

Mr. Orji noted that the president’s visit was a demonstration of love for the people of Ebonyi State.

On security measures put in place, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Aliyu Garba, said the command was collaborating with other sister agencies to ensure that the state was safe and peaceful throughout the visit and beyond.

Mr Garba called on the residents of the state to be law abiding and go about their lawful businesses.
