NSCDC VOWS TO CLAMP DOWN ON ILLEGAL REFINERIES IN ABIA
REPORTER: LAWRENCE NWOKEDI
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Abia State Command says it is poised to rid the state of any illegal oil refinery.
This followed the Federal
Government’s directive to security agencies to clampdown on illegal refineries in the country as a result of recent explosion of an illegal refinery at Imo State.
The Commandant of the Corps, Mr. Ayinla Olowo, stated this in a telephone chat with Radio Nigeria in Umuahia.
Mr. Olowo noted that, although what happened in Imo State was very pathetic, government was committed towards tracking down those behind the establishment of the illegal refinery.
The NSCDC Commandant advised Nigerians, especially those living in oil communities, to ensure that they guarded against illegal bunkering and oil vandalism in the area.
Mr. Olowo assured the people that the command would not rest on its oars in the fight against oil vandals and illegal refineries.
He urged youths in the state to embrace various federal government enterprenuaralship ventures rather than engaging in illegal refineries and oil vandalism, warning that his men were ever ready to deal decisively with anyone caught in the act.
