AGUATA LG HEADQUARTERS & CATTLE MARKET ATTACKS: POLICE DEPLOY OPERATIVES TO THE AREA

Police Command in Anambra State says it has mobilised security operatives to forestall further destruction of lives and property in Aguata Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, made this known to journalists while confirming the attack on Aguata Local Government headquarters by yet to be identified hoodlums.

He said the Police Command was already on top of the situation and gave an assurance that the hoodlums would not go unpunished.

The yet to be identified gunmen at about 3pm on Thursday, stormed Aguata Local Government headquarters in Ekwulobia, setting structures ablaze.

An eye witness told Radio Nigeria that the hoodlums shot sporadically and left two persons dead.

It was also gathered that the Anambra State Fire Service and other relevant agencies upon getting the information, deployed their men to the area to help put out the fire.

Radio Nigeria also gathered that the gunmen after attacking Aguata Local Government drove to a cattle market in Igboukwu Community where they killed about thirty cows.
