REPORTER: ONYINYE CHIJIOBI
Anambra State Government has expressed dismay with the burning of Nnewi South Local Government headquarters in Ukpor by suspected arsonists.
The State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, who made his feelings known after inspecting the burnt facility, also expressed sadness by the killing of one of the security men on duty.
Among the offices affected by the inferno were the security post, education and works departments.
The Governor, while noting that the fire started in the early hours of Thursday (March 31, 2022) said the assault and bloodletting would not be tolerated.
Professor Soludo also expressed regret that the resources that would have been channelled to productive ventures would now be used to rebuild the burnt building.
The Governor urged security agents to unravel the mystery behind the attack and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Meanwhile, the corpse of the slain securityman had been removed by security agents as at the time of filing this report.
The Governor was accompanied on the visit by the state Commissioner of Police Mr. Echeng Echeng.
