WORK BEGINS AT OKPUDARA AMACHARA EROSIN SITE IN ABIA STATE

abia stateThe Federal Government has handed over to a contractor an erosion site in OkpudaraAmachara in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State. Handing over the site to the contractor, a representative of the Ecological Fund Office, Abuja, Mrs. UgonwanyiEkugo, pointed out that twenty five of such projects were awarded nationwide with Abia State getting two.

Mrs. Ekugo noted that the problem received attention following the input by the member representing Ikwuano-Umuahia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chief Sam Onuigbo. She called for cooperation between the contractor and members of the community to ensure timely completion of the project. In a remark, the member representing Ikwuano-Umuahia Federal Constituency, Chief Sam Onuigbo, lauded the Federal Government for its determination to tackle ecological problems in various parts of the country.

He expressed joy that work had already commenced at the Okwe-Obohia erosion control site in Ikwuano Local Government Area. In a message to the occasion, the Chairman, Umuahia South Local Government, Prince ObiomaOgbulafor, called for synergy between the contractor and the people in the execution of the project. A community leader, Elder UzomaOnyekwere, while thanking all those who played part in attracting the project assured the readiness of the people to work closely with those executing the job.
