SOME NIGERIANS WANT AN INSTITUTION NAMED AFTER CHIEF ALEX EKWUEME
Some prominent Nigerians have called on the federal government to name one Institution after a former Vice-President, late Dr. Alex Ekwueme.They made the call in Awka, the Anambra State capital, while speaking with our Correspondent as preparations for Dr. Ekwueme’s final home journey commences in earnest.
One of them is the governorship candidate of Advance Congress of Democrats in the just concluded governorship election in the state, Mrs Oby Okafor,who described Dr. Ekwueme as a seasoned politician, and a gentleman. Another respondent and member representing Njikoka Two Constituency, Dr. Pete Ibida described Dr. Ekwueme as an Institution, a colossus, a true Nigerian and a pace-setter.
Mr. Jude Emecheta, Managing Director, Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency, believes that immortalizing him is a way to acknowledge his selfless services to the nation. Meanwhile, the Anambra state House of Assembly recently passed a resolution calling on the federal government to name one institution after the former Vice-President, late Dr. Alex Ekwueme.
Dr. Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme, the Ide one of Oko as he was popularly called by his people, begins his final journey to the mother earth on Friday this week.
