ROBBERS STOLE CASH, KILL ASSISTANT FILLING STATION MANAGER IN ONITSHA

onitsha rubberA middle aged man has been shot dead during a robbery attack at a filling station along upper new market road onitsha Anambra State. The incident, which occurred at about half past two Monday afternoon, affected heavy human and vehicular movement on the road, which leads to Onitsha main market.

According to an eye witness, the two robbers came into the filling station with a motorcycle and requested for two hundred naira fuel. The pump attendant said after she sold to them, the one at the back jumped down and brought out Ak 47 riffle and started demanding for money.

They narrated that the robber immediately found his way into the cash office where he shot dead the assistant manager of the station.  The deceased whose name was given as Mr. Edwin Odo hails from Enugu Ezike in Enugu state and married with kids.

The two robbers also shot a male customer on the leg before carting away undisclosed amount of money from the station after shooting sporadically to the air. Security agents later arrived at the scene of the incident and took away the corps of the deceased while the injured person was rushed to hospital.

Some residents and sympathizers who said such robbery incident had occurred in the area about two weeks ago called for more security presence in the area. All efforts by Radio Nigeria to reach the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra State, Mrs. Nkeiruka Nwode, failed as she did not pick phone calls put across to her.
