RE BRANDING OF COAL CITY FM 92.9 AS THE MOST PREFERRED RADIO STATION

COALCITYThe Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria Enugu National Station, Mr. Ike Okere says the aim of re-branding the Coal City FM 92.9 is to make it the number one preferred broadcaster and choice of Radio listeners for news, talk  and sports in the South-East. Mr. Okere announced this at the Broadcasting House Enugu while briefing newsmen on activities lined up for the re-launch of the Station.

The changes in the programming for the Coal City FM to assume the new character started in January this year. Mr. Okere stated that the new character of the Station which would take-off on Monday, nineteenth of June 2017 would meet the expected needs of the teeming audience as it was based on research.

The Zonal Director note that the re-launch would be preceded by three road shows in Enugu, the Coal City, the first comes up today the 15th of June, the second on Saturday at Okpara Square and the third on Monday next week. According to him, the event will be climaxed by a re-launch ceremony on the same day at the Broadcasting House at one o’clock in the afternoon.

It would feature cutting of cake to symbolically open the Station. Mr. Okere emphasized that the Station would be youth-friendly while still serving the core audience. He also assured that FRCN Enugu was set to continue the rich culture of excellence which Radio Nigeria as pioneer broadcaster in the country was known for. Speaking on behalf of other journalists, the National Vice President, Nigeria Union of Journalists, South-East, Mr. Christopher Isiguzo congratulated the Management of FRCN Enugu and expressed the hope that the rebranding would be extended to other FM Stations of Radio Nigeria in the Zone.

The briefing was attended by the General Manager of Coal City FM, Joy Obitulata and Management Staff of FRCN Enugu. Meanwhile, the Coal City train will kick-off from the Broadcasting House to some major bus stops in Enugu Metropolis, with ten minutes stop-over at Old Park, Mayor Bus stop and Garki.

The train will also stop at Kenyatta Bus stop for five minutes. At IMT Campus three, there will be another stop-over in which the Zonal Director is expected to address the public at Mass Communication Department.

The road show will continue from Presidential road through Eastern Shop to Ogui Road, Artisan Market, Otigba Junction, Abakaliki Road with a stop-over at Enugu State College of Education Technical , ESCET, to Okpara Avenue through State Secretariat back to Broadcasting House.
