POLICE OFFICER KILLED IN THE ATTACK AT ARIARIA POLICE STATION IN ABA RECEIVES POSTHUMOUS PROMOTION

abaThe Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris has stressed the need for greater commitment of all Nigerians in the sustenance of peace to fast track the development of the country. Mr. Idris stated this during a courtesy call on Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State at Government House Umuahia.

The Police IG said he was in the state because of the recent security issues in the area and commended the state government for the support being given to the police. Mr. Idris announced a posthumous promotion of the police officer who lost his live during the attack at the Ariaria police station in Aba to the post of Assistant Superintendent Inspector of Police for the gallant performance in the face of death.

Governor Ikpeazu while responding, noted that no meaningfully development could take place in an atmosphere devoid of peace and commended the security agencies for their efforts in restoring peace in the state.  The Inspector General of Police later held an Intensive session with traditional rulers and leaders of Hausa and Yoruba communities and students.
