POLICE DEBUNK PLANNED REPRISAL ATTACK BY HERDSMEN

The Anambra State Police Command says its attention has been drawn to a publication going round in the social media that herdsmen are planning a reprisal attack over the incident that occurred on the thirtieth of this month at Agulu in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State where a herder sustained injury due to attack by yet to be identified persons.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, Mr Haruna Muhammed says the publication was a figment of the imagination of mischief makers, which was orchestrated by those elements who were not happy with the prevailing peace in the State.

According to him, the State is enjoying a harmonious relationship between Farmers and Herdsmen who usually resolve disputes amicably through an existing channel set up by the State Government comprising Law Enforcement Agencies and other Stakeholders.

Mr Mohammed advises members of the Public to disregard the rumour and go about their lawful businesses as the Command is fully committed to promoting safety and security in the State.
