NOA CAUTONS AGAINST ANTI-IMMUNIZATION CAMPAIGN

rector, National Orientation Agency, Abia state, Dr. Ngozi Uduma has called on parents, especially mothers to shun negative expressions and misinformation on child immunization being speculated in the country.
Speaking during a town hall meeting against anti-vaccination campaign at
Umuahia South Local Government Area, Dr Uduma noted that such misinformation on immunization was propaganda from mischievous people who had no interest of the children at heart.
She stated that through immunization, children from 0 to 5 years would be protected from childhood killer diseases including measles, polio and diarrhea.
Also speaking on the occasion, the state Immunization officer Abia State Mr. John Onwubufor highlighted on the need for people to disregard such misinformation on immunization as it could endanger the lives of their children if they were not immunized against the deadly disease.
Some of the participants in the town hall meeting called for more awareness on the fight against misinformation on immunization through the churches and the mass media.
Over 300 participants mainly security agents, traditional rulers and market women attended the town hall meeting.
