NEED FOR ADEQUATE PROVISION OF EQUIPMENT FOR RADIOGRAPHERS STRESSED

As Radiographers in Enugu State joined their counterparts across the globe to commemorate this year’s World Radiography Day, Nigerians are advised to appreciate the importance of x-ray in the treatment of  diseases. Some of the Radiographers gave the advice while contributing to a special edition of “Media Link”, a Radio Nigeria Enugu live interactive programme.

The immediate past Head of Department of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, Dr Felicitas Idigo described x-ray as a visual outlook of what is happening inside the body, noting that Radiographers are determined to provide the needed service to the public.

Speaking on the theme of the celebration “We Care About Your Safety”, a Lecturer, Mr. Julius Agbo stressed the need for adequate provision of equipment for Radiographers especially in public heath institutions.

Another guest, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Nsifreni Medial Diagnostic Center Enugu, Mr. Emmanuel Akpan said there were strong mechanisms to checkmate quackery in the profession.

Callers on the programme commended the Radiographers for the sensitization but advised them to avoid anything that could expose patients to radiation.
