NDIGBO URGED TO AVOID ACTS CAPABLE OF DESTABILIZING THE UNITY OF NIGERIA….OHANEZE
Ndigbo are advised to remain focused, law abiding and avoid acts capable of destabilizing the unity and peace of Nigeria. The President Ohaneze Ndigbo, Enugu state, Chief Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia gave the advice during the inauguration of the executive members of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Oji River Local Government Chapter.
The Local Government Secretariat field, venue of the inauguration was filled to capacity with who is who in the area. Addressing the gathering, Chief Alex Ogbonnia expressed joy for the warm reception the people accorded him.
Chief Ogbonnia explained that the aim of inaugurating executives of Ohaneze Ndigbo at local government levels was to achieve one united Igbo race. According to him, the Association was working hard to ensure that Igbos were given their pride of place in a restructured Nigeria, through dialogue.
“Our perspective and Ohaneze Agenda is simple. We want a restructured one Nigeria, where we have authority over our revenue and expenditure profile.”
In an interview with Radio Nigeria, the Chairman, Ohaneze Ndigbo, Oji River Local Government, Mr Ifeanyi Nwozor expressed readiness to serve the people.
“We shall remain steadfast and champion a common course for the betterment of Igboman anywhere, anytime and any moment.”
Also speaking, the Chairman, Planning and Strategy, Ohaneze Ndigbo, Oji River, Mr Felix Maduka promised to work with plans that would ensure the security of Igbos and Nigerians in general. The Enugu State Commissioner for Rural Development, Ozo Gab Onuzulike advised members of the executive to work with relevant stakeholders to achieve the objectives of the organization.
Earlier in a remark, the Chairman, Caretaker Committee, Oji-River Local Government Area, Mr Bonny Uchendu advised the newly inaugurated members to emulate the leadership qualities of the leaders of the socio-cultrual organization.
“I want them to take after the President of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief NniaNwodo’ who is a great leader indeed, the State Chairman.”
The members of Ohaneze Ndigbo at the state and local government levels had earlier paid a courtesy call on the Patron, Ohaneze Ndigbo, Enugu State and traditional ruler of Obibi Kingdom, Igwe Mike Mberedeogu in his palace.
