MAN TAKES HIS LIFE AFTER BEATING MOTHER TO DEATH IN EBONYI STATE

A 28-year-old man, Ekene Ezegoo, has allegedly committed suicide few days after beating his mother to death at Number 24 Agbaja Road, Abakaliki in Ebonyi State.

Radio Nigeria last week carried a story that Ekene allegedly killed his mother, Prophetess Mary when she intervened in a fight between him and his younger sister.

Investigations reveal that after Ekene had allegedly beaten his mother to death, he drove his motorcycle to Central Police Station where he reported the matter.

However, he fled the State when Police wanted to arrest him and ended up in his uncompleted house at Onuebonyi residential area of Abakaliki where he allegedly drank three bottles of rat poison.

His elder brother, Mr. Chidi Ezegoo explained that Ekene was rushed to the emergency unit of Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki where he eventually died.

Corroborating the story, a tenant in the area, Mr. Chinedu Sunday, explained that immediately they were informed about Ekene’s health condition, they contacted Police who came and assisted the family in rushing him to the hospital.

One of Ekene’s step brothers, Onyema, lamented that the incidents had dragged the name  of the family to the mud, emphasizing that he never imagined that the deceased could take his life at a time efforts were  being made to resolve the crisis in the family.

Although the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Mr. Jude Madu was yet to confirm the incident, Radio Nigeria gathered that autopsy would be conducted on the corpse.
