ENUGU RESIDENTS REACT TO FG RICE IMPORTATION POLICY
The Federal Government recently announced it had cut down rice importation to 90%.
This is to encourage mass production of the food in the country.
Reacting to the Federal Government’s announcement some citizen in Enugu metropolis described the move as a welcome development.
A traditional ruler, Igwe Madueke Aniagu commended the pronouncement but suggested total ban on rice importation to enable the commodity to thrive in the country.
Also, a student Miss Ukamaka Madu and a spokesman of a higher institution based in Enugu, Mr. Chibuzo Egwu, commended the Federal Government and called on Nigerians to support the move by patronizing local rice, which according to them is nutritional.
An Educationist, Ambassador Rich Eze, called for proper implementation of the pronouncement.
Ambassador Eze stressed the need for the Federal Government to encourage farmers with soft loans to enhance food sufficiency.
