CORPS MEMBERS TOLD TO PROMOTE NATIONAL UNITY

dg2The Director General, National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Zachary Kazaure says the Scheme will continue to spearhead efforts towards strengthening National Unity through integration of youths of diverse ethnic nationalities.

Brigadier General Kazaure stated this while addressing 2017 Batch A Stream Two Corps members undergoing three weeks Orientation Course at Old McGregory College,Afikpo in Ebonyi State.

He described the Corps members as Ambassadors of the country and charged them to use their service year to promote National Unity and cohesion.

The Director General called on them to respect the culture of their host communities and contribute meaningfully to the development of the country by  engaging in community development projects.

The State Coordinator of the Scheme, Mrs Regina Iluebby explained that the corps members had been subjected to various enlightenment and skills acquisition programmes but stressed the need for the facilities in the Camp to be given a facelift.

MrsIluebby further expressed mixed feelings over gender imbalance in the posting of Corps members to the Camp, pointing out that out of one thousand eight hundred and eighty four of them deployed to the State, only one hundred and seventy two were females.

She noted that fifty four of the females were either pregnant or nursing mothers and appealed to the Director General to look into the imbalance.

The Corps members gave the Director General three hearty cheers to express their delight over his visit.

“Gboza!!!,  Gboza!! , Gboza!
