5 Men of Nigerian Air Force Reported Dead in Helicopter Crash in Damasak Borno State

The Nigerian Air Force says five of its men died in the helicopter crash that occurred in Damasak, northern Borno.

The accident happened while the helicopter was being used in combat to provide air support to troops of 145 Battalion, against the ragtag Boko Haram fighters.

The spokesman of the Force, Air Commodore IbikunleDaramola said the pilot of the Russian-made Mi-35M helicopter, Flt. Lieutenant Perowei Jacob and co-pilot Kaltho Paul Kilyofas died in the crash, along with three other men.

The other victims of the crash were a Flight Technician,Sergeant Auwal Ibrahim, two gunners, Lance Corporal AdamuNura and Aircraftman Meshack Ishmael.

Report from the News Agency of Nigeria quotes Air Commodore Daramolaas saying that the remains of the gallant men have been recovered in Maiduguri.
