Rio Olympics: Nigeria Qualify Ahead Of Egypt

Team Nigeria has qualified for the men’s Rio Olympics table tennis event, as they clinched the sole ticket to represent Africa ahead of Egypt.

Nigeria’s qualification was based on May rankings released yesterday by the International Table Tennis Federation, with Nigeria’s men ranked highest in Africa.

Nigeria’s men team dropped a step, to 27th with 202 points because of inactiveness of it’s players but they were still ahead of Egypt which was ranked 32nd with 192 points.

However, Egypt beat Nigeria to the sole slot in the women’s team event being the best ranked women’s team in the continent with 31st position ahead of Nigeria’s 39th position.

The 2016 Rio Olympics games will kick-off in August in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
