Giwa FC In Danger Of Being Expelled From NPFL

Giwa Football Club failed to turn up in Ilorin on Sunday for their Nigeria League match against Wikki Tourists and they could be expelled from the Nigeria Professional Football League if they fail to honour their next game.

Wikki Tourists conducted a walkover when it was clear Giwa FC would not honour the fixture.

According to the frame work and rules of the Nigeria Professional Football League for the 2015/2016 season, Article 13.27 clearly states that “if a club fails to honour two consecutive matches without an acceptable reason to the league management company, such a club shall be expelled from the league and its matches played and un-played shall be cancelled.

These sanctions would also apply should a club fail to honour three consecutive matches in a season.

Giwa FC was heavily fined and was also handed a three match stadium ban for crowd trouble during their week 12 game against Enugu Rangers in Jos. The club was given additional fines after it failed to honour the rescheduled game against Rangers in Abuja.
