THIRTY SIX THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED AND NINETY TWO VOTERS HAVE BEEN DISENFRANCHISED IN EBONYI STATE

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Ebonyi State says thirty six thousand three hundred and ninety two voters have been disenfranchised as a result of the burning of three Registration Area Centres in Ezza North Local Government Area of the State.

Speaking to newsmen, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Professor Godswil Obioma explained that the affected Registration Centres were located in Umuoghara where a class room block was burnt, Orieuzor and Ekaa.

According to him the incident affected seventy five polling units while efforts were on to proffer solutions to the development.

Meanwhile, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has condemned the incident and charged security agencies to fish out the perpetrators.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after casting his vote in Uburu, Chief Umahi described the incident as the handiwork of enemies of the State.
