Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has attended a meeting to reconcile with his estranged political associates, especially a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Pius Anyim and the Senator representing Ebonyi North Zone in the National Assembly, Dr. Sam Egwu.
The meeting, which took place at Pastoral Centre Abakaliki was held behind closed doors.
There has been face off between Governor Umahi and some political leaders of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stock following his defection to All Progressives Congress (APC) in November 2020.
Sources from the meeting told Radio Nigeria that it was called at the instance of founding fathers of the state.
A former Governor of the State, Chief Martin Elechi and the Catholic Bishop of Abakaliki, Bishop Nnachi Okoro were also at the meeting.
Although detail of the outcome of the parley was not made public, there were indications that the parties involved were disposed to peaceful resolution of the matter.
It can be recalled that Governor Umahi had few days after his defection accused Chief Pius Anyim, Senator Egwu and other National Assembly members of PDP stock in the state of betrayal, an allegation they refuted at various fora.
