ARCHBISHOP OPOKO CALLS FOR ADEQUATE COMPENSATION OF FAMILIES OF FALLEN HEROES

The Methodist Archbishop of Umuahia Dioceses, the Most Reverend Chibuzo Opoko wants goverment to adequately compensate all the families of the Nigeria fallen heroes who died while trying to protect the sovereignty of the country.

Archbishop Opoko stated this in a sermon to mark the Armed Forces and Rememberance Day at Methodist Church of Nigeria Wesley Cathedral Umuahia.

He commended members of the Armed Forces for their contributions to the peace keeping in some countries outside Nigeria.

The Most Reverend Opoko called on government at all levels to support the Armed Forces in their fight against insecurity and crime by providing them with adequate weapons and other logistics to combat insurgency.

In a message, Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, represented by the Deputy Governor, Mr. Ude Okochukwu, reiterated his administration’s commitment towards supporting security agencies in the state in the fight against crime.

He called on relevant stakeholders to join hands with government in eliminating social vices, including drugs addiction, cultism, armed robbery and kidnapping from the society.

The Governor pledged that his administration would continue to assist the Nigerian legion, Abia State Chapter in anyway it could.
