The Chairman of South East Governors Forum and the Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi, has described the Vice Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Peter Obi, as competent to deliver on the job he has been appointed for, if the party takes over power in 2019.
Chief Umahi stated this against the backdrop of reactions trailing the stand of some Igbo Leaders over the choice of Mr. Obi as the running mate to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar .
In an interview in Abakaliki, Governor Umahi said though Igbo leaders were not against the candidacy of Mr. Obi, some states in the South East were not given the opportunity to nominate a candidate for the same position.
Governor Umahi noted that those who played a major role in the selection of Mr. Obi were from other five geopolitical zones, but expressed the hope that Igbos would be carried along in future decisions by the Presidential Candidate.
The controversy surrounding Mr. Obi’s emergence as Vice Presidential candidate of the PDP has dominated discussion on both social and conventional media in the last few days.
