NULGE TO CAMPAIGN AGAINST POLITICIANS NOT IN SUPPORT OF LG AUTONOMY

The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), says it will campaign against any elected official who refuses to support the passage of the Amendment Bill on Local Government Autonomy before the State Houses of Assembly.

A member of National Trustee of NULGE, Comrade Fatai Ibrahim, stated this in an interaction with Radio Nigeria after meeting with the Abia State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Umuahia.

According to Comrade Ibrahim, the NULGE National Body is agitating for complete autonomy of Local Government so as to check nonpayment of workers in the third tier of Government and to ensure infrastructure development in rural areas.

He pointed out that only 12 States have passed the bill into law out of 24 States required.

He appealed to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to give his support to the bill so as to check the financial recklessness and corruption which were prevalent in the Local Government administration.
