INEC COMMENDS PEACEFUL CONDUCT OF PDP WARD CONGRESS IN ENUGU STATE

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has commended the peaceful conduct of the Ward Congress of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Enugu State and urged them to sustain the tempo in its other political activities.

The Monitoring Officer of the Exercise in Aninri Local Government Area, Mr Anthony Obinna stated this at Ndeabor, the Council’s headquarters while certifying the list of the elected ad-hoc delegates.

Those elected during this exercise would join other statutory delegates to elect members of the House of Assembly, National Assembly members and the gubernatorial candidates at the party’s primary elections.

Speaking with newsmen, the INEC Monitoring Team of the exercise in Aninri led by Mr. Anthony Obinna said participants complied with the rules and regulations guiding the exercise.

The Returning Officer of the election, Nze Michael Onyeze who described the conduct as transparent noted that it was an indication that PDP believed  in internal democracy and providing a level playing ground for all.

In a remark, the Chairman of Anirnri Local Government Area, Chief Ezekiel Chukwu thanked the people for trooping out en masse and advised the elected delegates to support aspirants with good record.

Other Stakeholders of the Party who commented on the outcome of the election including, Chief Kevin Chukwu, Mrs Victoria Nwachukwu and Mr Victor Okoro maintained that Anirnri was a stronghold of the People’s Democratic Party and expressed optimism that they would win all the positions contested, come 2019.

With the identity of these ad-hoc and statutory delegates known, the Coast is now clear for the aspirants under the PDP Platform to know where to focus their politicking, to emerge victorious.

Also, the Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Council, Chief Ikechukwu Ubagu and the Chairman of the PDP  in the area, Prince Emeka Nwatu have commended the Party faithful for the peaceful conduct of the Ward Congress across the fourteen electoral wards of Nkanu East.

They said the transparent election of the three man ad-hoc delegates was a Step in the right direction that guarantees internal democracy in the party and thanked the Party faithful for trooping out en-masse for the exercise.

Meanwhile the Congress in Nomeh Ward had produced Chief Friday Aninkpuma, Mrs Gloria Uba and Mr Donatus Onyeabor as ad-hoc delegates.

Commenting on the exercise, a Stakeholder in the area, Mr Uche Anichukwu thanked the Party members in Nomeh for their exemplary conduct.

Mr Anichukwu, who is also the Special Adviser to Deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremadu, commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and the leadership of the Enugu State chapter for the PDP for providing a level playing field that resulted in free, fair and credible congresses across the State.
