INEC CHAIRMAN READS RIOT ACT TO ELECTORAL WORKERS IN ANAMBRA

The National Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has warned members of staff of the Commission not to compromise the standards of the body in the conduct of the governorship election in Anambra State.

Professor Yakubu gave the warning while addressing INEC workers in Awka, in preparation to the conduct of the Governorship election scheduled on Saturday this week in the State.

He reminded them about the predicament of those who compromised the Commission’s standards during the 2015 general election in the country, stressing that he would not hesitate to deal with any of them found wanting.

Professor Yakubu described the forthcoming election in the State as a special one because of the number of political parties involved in the contest which stood at thirty-seven.

According to him, two elections would be conducted on Saturday, the governorship and the State Constituency election in Idemili North, following the death of the member representing the area in the State House of Assembly.
