ENSIEC ISSUES CERTIFICATE OF RETURN TO WINNERS OF LG ELECTION AS APC CONDEMNS THE POLL

The seventeen chairmen- elect and all the councilors elect in the just concluded November 4, Local Government election in Enugu State have received their certificate of return.

Handing over the certificates to them, the Chairman of the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission, ENSIEC, Dr. Mike Ajogwu maintained that all parties were given equal opportunities to contest for the election while charging the PDP candidates that emerged victorious at the election to make judicious use of their position.

In an interview, the chairman-elect of Igboeze North Local Government, Comrade UwakweEzeja, said his victory was an act of God and promised to embark on massive rural development for his people.

“I have no words to really express how I feel. I want to thank the people of Igboeze North Local Government for giving me that kind of mandate: the mandate to lead them, the mandate to drive the process of development in Igboeze North Local Government within this period.

“I thank Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for the confidence he reposed on us. I want to thank our people, the stakeholders, the people who voted and ENSIEC for conducting a very free and credible election.”

Meanwhile, the All Progressive Congress, APC in Enugu state has continued to describe the Local Government election in the state as a sham.

The State Chairman of the party, Dr. Ben Nwoye in a press conference alleged that there was no result sheets in so many wards in the some Local Government amidst electoral violence.

Also, one of the party Chieftain, Chief Okey Ezea also alleged that some thugs waylaid him in his Ichi, Igboeze South ward when he complained of non existence of result sheet in the polling unit.
