IMO HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY RE-RUN ELECTION FIXED FOR FEBRUARY

inec2The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has fixed the twentieth of next month as the date for re-run elections in Imo North Senatorial district and three State Constituencies in the Imo State House of Assembly.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the State, Dr. Gabriel Adah announced this in Owerri during a meeting with political parties and candidates for the forthcoming elections.

The re-run election for the Imo North senatorial district followed the December Eleven nullification of Chief Athan Achonu’s election by a court of appeal in Owerri on the grounds that the logo of the Accord party was omitted in the ballot papers used for the poll.

Isiala Mbano and Oru East State Constituencies had their elections nullified by the court due to irregularities.

He explained the only card readers would be used for accreditation of voters while adequate manpower will be deployed to ensure a hitch-free exercise.
Speaking at the forum the candidate of the PDP for Imo North Senatorial District election chief Athan Achonu and the State Chairman of the APC Chief Hilary Ekeh called on all stakeholders to play by the rules.

The State Chairman Mega Progressive Peoples Party Mr Anslem Igbokwe called on INEC to ensure adequate training of all Ad hoc staff that will participate in the elections.
