AUTO CRASH LEAVES 6 PEOPLE IN CRITICAL CONDITION IN AWKA, ANAMBRA STATE

IMG-20160129-WA0054 Six people have been critically injured in Awka, Anambra State when a tanker loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) lost its brake along the Awka Enugu expressway crushing four vehicles in the process.

Radio Nigeria  gathered that the tanker was descending the sloppy part of Agu Awka near the State Government House after the popular Aroma Junction when the vehicle lost its brake and the driver lost control, crushing the vehicles within the Esther Obiako Estate junction.

When Radio Nigeria visited the  scene of the incident, a combined team of police, Federal Road Safety Corps and Fire Service officials were seen trying to put the situation under control.
Confirming the incident, the State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Sunday  Ajay said the six injured victims had been taken to the hospital for medical attention.

Mr. Ajayi observed that the Command had been on intensive round the clock operations along the expressway, most especially this period that motorists  were plying one lane .

Correspondent Kevin Ekediegwu reports that some sympathizers who spoke  with Radio Nigeria  at the scene  of the event called on the Federal Government to expedite action on the reconstruction of Onitsha –Enugu Expressway which they described as the most pitiable in the entire South East.
