Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has granted pardon to 10 inmates serving various jail terms at Aguata Prisons in Ekwulobia.

Governor Obiano granted the pardon when he joined in a Mass of Confirmation for 18 inmates at the facility.

He directed the Anambra State Controller of Prisons to prepare all the necessary papers to ensure the release of the benefitting inmates.

Governor Obiano condemned the high number of awaiting trial inmates in the facility and approved a bus to help in transporting the prisoners to court.

The Governor also directed the Commissioners for Housing and Public Utilities to repair its leaking roof as well as provide a transformer to enhance the supply of electricity to the prison.

Earlier in a homily, the Auxiliary to Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, the Most Reverend Jonas Benson Okoye urged youths to refrain from criminal activities but to deploy their energies into gainful ventures.
