FIRE RAZES POLICE STATION AND TWO SECURITY VEHICLES IN ANAMBRA STATE

A police station located in Ajali, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State have been gutted by fire from unknown source.

The fire incident, which began at around two O’Clock Thursday morning razed the police building and two security vehicles parked in the premises .

Some eye witnesses alleged that a group believed to be members of the Proscribed Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) had passed the police station chanting songs like, “No Election, No Referendum .”

They also alleged that some police officers were beaten up by the said group.

Meanwhile in a swift reaction to the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Mr. Haruna Mohammed, said the incident was just a fire incident until otherwise proven.

He however noted that the commissioner of Police who immediately visited the area for on the spot assessment had ordered for immediate investigation into the matter.

According to the PPRO, the commissioner, Mr Mustapha Dandaura, ordered the Deputy Commissioner in charge of criminal Investigation and intelligence department to conduct discreet investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Meanwhile no life was lost in the fire incident.
