APGA NATIONAL CONVENTION: RE-ELECTS OYE AS NATIONAL CHAIRMAN; OBIANO RETURNS AS BOT CHAIRMAN

The National Convention of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has ended in Awka with Chief Victor Oye re-elected as its National Chairman.

The convention also returned Governor Willie Obiano as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the party.

The event, which held at Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre, Awka, drew over 1500 delegates from Nigeria and members in the Diaspora.

The elections of the members of the National Working Committee and the reconstitution of the Board of Trustees of the party were done through voice votes.

The party also amended its 2014 constitution and ratified the decision of its National Executive Committee (NEC) expelling seven members of the National Working Committee.

Addressing the delegates, Governor Willie Obiano commended members of the party for ensuring transparency in the conduct of its congresses.

Governor Obiano also expressed happiness over the large turnout of delegates to the convention and charged members to work in unison to ensure the progress of the party.

The National Chairman of the party, Chief Victor Oye, who expressed appreciation to the delegates for the confidence reposed in him, pledged to work vigorously towards repositioning the party.

He extended hand of fellowship to aggrieved members of APGA, stressing that unity would help in advancing the course of the party.

Members of the 31 man BOT include Senator Victor Umeh, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, Chief Emeka Ojukwu Junior, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, Major General John Gbor, Chief Anayo Nnebe and Mr. Ben Nwankwo.

The convention which was observed by INEC officials, featured the inauguration of the new National Working Committee and Board of Trustees as well as the presentation of Certificate of Return to the National Chairman.
