ANAMBRA STATE ASSEMBLY MEMBERS MAKE A VOLTEFACE: PASS VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON EMBATTLED SPEAKER

Anambra State House of Assembly lawmakers have passed a vote of confidence on the embattled Speaker, Mrs. Rita Maduagwu for her exemplary leadership qualities.

The Lawmakers passed the vote of confidence on the Speaker during the plenary.

Mrs. Maduagwu, who was alleged to have been impeached on the November 13, 2018 by some lawmakers for alleged high handedness, financial impropriety among others, resumed sitting with twenty lawmakers on Tuesday.

During the sitting, the member representing Ayamelum constituency, Mr. Uchenna Okafor, moved a motion declaring support for Mrs. Maduagwu while the member representing Dunkofia Constituency, Mr. Lawrence Ezeudu, seconded it.

The member representing Anambra East Constituency, Mr. Obinna Emenaka, described the Speaker Mrs. Maduagwu as a virtuous woman, whose character earned her the Chairmanship of the conference of speakers in the Southeast zone.

Radio Nigeria observed that the factional Speaker Mr. Ikem Uzoezie did not attend the sitting.

However, some other lawmakers stayed away from the plenary, as they were not in support of the arrangement.
