YULETIDE: FRSC IN IMO INSISTS ON DRIVERS’ ADHERENCE TO SAFETY RULES

Reporter : UGONNA AGU –

Parents and care givers have been advised to be cautious about the habit they exhibit while on steering with the children in the car.

The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Imo State, Mr. Roland Onamusi, gave the advice in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Owerri.

Mr. Onamusi appealed to parents and other drivers not to overspeed, avoid making use of their cell phones while driving and never insult other road users as their children would be watching them and might grow up to do same.

The Sector Commander called on drivers to be on seat belt always and ensure they strapped their children in the vehicle.

Mr. Onamusi pointed out children below the age of eight should not seat on the front sit and children between the ages of zero and six should be properly strapped in a detachable car seat.

He advised road users to maintain maximum discipline this festive period, and avoid any form of distraction while driving to avoid accident.

Mr. Onamusi further advised travellers to ensure their vehicles were in good condition before embarking on any journey and also leave for their destination early enough to avoid overspending and night driving.
