EBONYI STATE GOVT APPROVES ABOUT #9BN FOR AIRPORT & HOSPITAL INSTALLATIONS

Ebonyi State Government has approved seven-point three-one-six billion Naira for the procurement of air traffic control equipment to be installed at the state International Airport being constructed in Ezza area of the state.

Briefing journalists at the end of the state Executive Council meeting at Government House Abakaliki, the State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Uchenna Orji, explained that the procurement contract included installation and five year equipment free maintenance service.

‘’This contract that has been awarded will make us to have a brand new airport. Government is committed towards completing the airport in a record time. The Governor has severally mentioned that he will do everything possible to make sure that we have one of the best three Airports in Nigeria,’’ Mr. Orji said.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Daniel Umezuruik,e told newsmen that the State Executive Council also approved one-point-seven billion Naira for the procurement of medical equipment for the State University Teaching Hospital being built in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area.

‘’This includes approval for the purchase of lab equipment, also the eye centre took the centre stage because the second payment was also approved and also the kidney and liver transplant section was also taken care-of because the payment was also approved,’’ the Health Commissioner stated.

Dr. Umezuruike also explained that the state government directed the Ministry to step up its testing capacity by conducting COVID-19 test on four hundred and fifty persons per Local Government Area to ensure that the state was protected from the second wave of the virus.

He added that a few cases the state recorded in recent time came from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp, Afikpo, pointing out that the infected corps members were responding to treatment.
