WINDSTORM WREAK HAVOC IN ANINRI LGA, ENUGU STATE

Windstorm, alongside a downpour, has caused great havoc in three communities in Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State, destroying school buildings, residential homes and economic trees.

When Radio Nigeria visited the scene of the incident, some of the people affected described it as strange and devastating.

A native of Okpanku community, Mr. Okoro Aja explained that a classroom block collapsed on students of Okpanku High School and injured eight of them.

At Eziecho, Uhueze Nenwe, some of the people who had their roofs blown off, including a visually impaired woman, cried for help from government and other spirited individuals.

Another person from the area, Mr. Onyeka Uchendu, appealed to relevant agencies and the government to provide succor to them to cushion the effect of the disaster.

The Chairman, Aninri Local Government Area, Chief Ezekiel, who was on hand to confirm the incident, expressed regret with the level of devastation caused by the rainstorm and promised that the council would come to their aid.

Radio Nigeria gathered that more than three buildings were also affected by the storm in Oduma community.
