USE RESEARCH FINDINGS BY DEFENCE COLLEGE TO TACKLE INSECURITY, UMAHI ADVICES FG

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has called on the Federal Government to use research findings by various course participants in the National Defence College to solve numerous insecurity challenges confronting the nation.

Chief Umahi made the call while receiving members of course 27 Nigeria Defence College Abuja, who paid him a courtesy visit at Government House Abakaliki.

Governor Umahi noted that National Defence College had the capabilities to carry out empirical studies on security challenges facing the country in view of the strategic content of its curriculum.

He noted that though the country had numerous committees set up to proffer solutions to challenges affecting the nation’s socio political development, their reports were rarely implemented.

Chief Umahi therefore advocated the creation of a department in National Defence College that would ensure that findings being churned out by course participants were put to good use.

The Leader of Course 27 Team, Commodore Murtala Bashir, explained that they were in the state on a study tour in line with the curriculum of the course.

He noted that while in the state, the team would centre its study on the Management of Youths and National Security.

Governor Umahi also received the General Officer Commanding 82 Division Nigeria Army Enugu, Major General Emmanuel Kabuk.

Major General Kabuk said he was in Ebonyi State to familiarize with the State Government following his assumption of duty as the 32nd General Officer Commanding the Division.
