ABIA STATE GOVT. CONDOLES WITH VICTIMS OF OSISIOMA PIPELINE EXPLOSION, SETS UP COMMISSION OF ENQUIRY

Abia State has expressed shock news of the pipeline explosion that occurred on the Osisioma axis of the state, which claimed over 15 lives and left many others injured.

According to a statement by the State Commissioner Information, Chief John Kalu, the State Government sympathized with the victims of the unfortunate incident and their families.

It called on relevant agencies and organizations to investigate the remote and immediate causes of the explosion with a view to unravelling the cause and preventing a future occurrence.

The statement indicated that all relevant State agencies, including medical emergency responders, have been mobilized to assist the wounded recover as soon as possible.

It prayed God to grant the bereaved the fortitude to bear the loss and the injured speedy recovery.

The statement added that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu had already visited the affected villages, Umuaduru and Umuimo, in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area.

The statement went further to say that Governor Ikpeazu had directed the Commissioner for Petroleum Resources, Mr. Chizurum Kanu, to immediately inaugurate a Commission of Inquiry to unravel the immediate and remote causes of the pipeline explosion.

He also directed the Commissioner for Heath, Dr John Ahukannah and Chairman of Osisioma LGA, Chief Ihenyinna Mgbeahuru, to visit the surviving victims of the explosion in the various hospitals they were being treated and ensure that government provided them with adequate medicare as well as pay their medical bills.
