UMAHI SIGNS LAW TO END EZILO AND EZZA-EZILO COMMUNAL CLASH

Ebony State Government has created two autonomous communities as part of efforts to resettle the victims of the protracted Ezilo and Ezza Ezilo communal crisis, which occurred from 2008 to 2011 in Ishielu Local Government Area.

Governor David Umahi announced this while signing into Law Ezilo and Ezza Ezilo Peace Pact and Amanze and Izo Autonomous Communities Bill at Government House Abakaliki.

Chief Umahi explained that the Law which provides for the creation of the two communities was aimed at ensuring that peace reigned between the people of Ezilo and Ezza Ezilo as well as to give those affected a new lease of life.

The Speaker, Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chief Francis Nwifuru, had while presenting the Bill to the Governor, explained that the state Lawmakers had ensured that all contentious issues in its provisions were addressed before its passage.
