TRICYCLE OPERATORS IN EBONYI TOLD TO COMPLY WITH APPROVED COLOURS OR RISK ARREST.

Ebonyi State Government has given Tricycle operators in the state till December this year to paint their vehicles blue and white colours in line with its policy directive or face prosecution.

Governor David Umahi gave the order at a meeting with representatives of various Tricycle operator Unions at Government House, Abakaliki.

He explained that the directive was aimed at checking activities of criminal elements who hide under the guise of Keke operators to foment trouble.
The Governor also directed members to facilitate the re-registration of their tricycles for easy collection of revenue for the government.

Governor Umahi also dissolved the leadership of the Unions and set up a three man Interim Committee headed by his Senior Special Adviser on Internal Security, Dr. Kenneth Ugbala to organize an election for the emergence of one Leadership.

Early this month, hundreds of Tricycle operators barricaded Government House, Abakaliki to protest against highhandedness of their leadership and alleged illegal collection of levies.
