THREE POLICEMEN, TWO GUNMEN DIE IN EBONYI ATTACK

REPORTER: AMECHI ODO

Suspected hoodlums have shot dead three police operatives at their
duty post in Oshiri Community, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The attack came barely two days after two police operatives were gunned down in an evening attack by suspected hoodlums at Union Bank Roundabout, just few metres to Old Government House and Police Command Headquarters in Abakaliki.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Mrs. Onome Onovwakpoyeya, in a statement explained that the latest attack in Oshiri took place in the morning during a stop and search operation.

She noted that in a swift response, a tactical team drafted to the scene of the incident intercepted the hoodlums and shot two dead while others fled.

Mrs. Onovwakpoyeya said items recovered from them included one locally fabricated AK47, one AK 47 magazine with 7 rounds of ammunition and one SMG rifle.

Other items were one SMG magazine with 8 rounds of ammunition, a pack of hard drug, Charms and musical instrument.

The Commissioner of Police in the State, Mr. Falaye Olaleye, was quoted by the police image maker as appealing to members of the public to report anyone with suspicious bullet wounds.
