THE NEED FOR REGULAR EYE TEST BEFORE DRIVING EMPHASIZED IN ANAMBRA

The Federal Road Safety Corps in Anambra State says out of two hundred and fourteen drivers screened for eye test, eighty-eight of them have one eye problems.

The Sector Commander of the Corps in the State, Commander Sunday Ajayi stated this in an exclusive interview with Radio Nigeria in Awka, on the need for drivers to have good eye sight while driving.

Commander Ajayi explained that the screening which was free was conducted in collaboration with Optometrists at Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi Oraifite and Igbo-Ukwu motor parts to determine the number of drivers with eye problems.

We want people to know that there is need to go for Eye Test time to time. We have seen people that are taking risk or driving without seeing well. There are lots of them. This is not encouraging.

According to Commander Ajayi, in all the driving centers across the country, there was an Eye Testing Department which all the would-be drivers were subjected to before they could be issued with a Driver’s License.

He emphasized the need for good eye sight among drivers and appealed to them to always go for regular test so that they could see clearly while on the steering.

Radio Nigeria Correspondent reports that Commander Ajayi advised the Managers of Motor Parks to ensure that those who had eye problems were corrected before they embarked on any journey.
