BANK OFFICIALS NABBED IN ABIA STATE FOR ALLEGED BANK FRAUD

The Police Command in Abia State has arrested one Michael Onuoha for alleged unlawful procurement, importation and possession of military uniforms.

Parading the suspect and other criminals at the Central Police Station Umuahia, the Commissioner of Police Abia State, Mr. Anthony Ogbizi said that the suspect was arrested through a tip-off at a warehouse in Aba where the materials were kept.

Also paraded were two officials of a new generation bank in Umuahia one Promise Nwangene and Kenneth Ebereonu for their alleged involvement in a bank fraud.

Mr. Ogbizi noted that luck ran out of the bankers when one of them Promise Nwangene who is a Marketing Officer with the bank in a bid to pass information to his colleague on ways to make withdrawal of money from an account of a customer with the bank mistakenly sent it to a Whatsapp group chat where it was intercepted by the customer and reported to the bank.

The Commissioner of Police also paraded three suspected kidnappers whom according to him were allegedly involved in the recent kidnapping of a medical doctor of Federal Medical Center Umuahia.

Mr.  Ogbizi appealed to the general public to always feel free and come up with vital information that would assist the Police in its fight against crime in the State assuring that such information will be treated with utmost confidentiality.

In an interview, one of the suspects Benjamin Ogbonna who claimed to be a commercial motorcycle operator denied being a kidnapper stating that he came to pick a passenger at Umuafai in Umuahia when he was arrested by the Police.

Items recovered from suspects include a Camry vehicle, one commercial tricycle, quantities of wrapped Military camouflage uniforms, a pump action gun, some live cartridges, cutlasses and four bank ATM cards.
