SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS MEET THEIR WATERLOO IN IMO STATE
The Imo State Police Command has arrested a gang of suspected kidnappers for abduction and subsequent murder of one Mrs. Comfort Okoro, the wife of a traditional ruler in Uratta, Owerri North Local Government Area of the State.
Parading the suspects in Owerri, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Mr. Orlando Ikeokwu said the suspects collected four million naira ransom after the victim died in their custody but were apprehended in the process of collecting additional one million naira from the family.
He explained that the alleged Coordinator of the gang was facing trial in Owerri Correctional Centre for a different crime from where he masterminded the operation.
He announced that the Command had concluded arrangements to pick him up from the Correctional Centre to aid investigations.
Also, one Moses Moses, a twenty two year old boy from Edo State who allegedly murdered his colleague and siphoned millions of naira from his account was also paraded.
Mr Ikeoku narrated another incident involving one Wisdom Amagwu, a soldier who absconded from Maiduguri where he was redeployed and connived with others to kidnap and later murdered their victim whom he said identified him during the operation.
All the suspects confessed their involvement in the crimes.
A total of twenty six suspects were arrested by the Command within the last two months while exhibits recovered included assorted arms and ammunition, stolen vehicles and military uniforms.
